In youth sports, the coaches and parents have a unique opportunity to develop leadership qualities in kids. Leading by example is important, but being organized and intentional is critical when it comes to teaching kids. Spending just five minutes during each practice teaching players about leadership will develop a close knit team in which the players are dedicated to the growth and success of their teammates. The players develop leadership skills that help them become leaders on and off the field.

APIVEO™ (Always Play for (IV) Each Other™) is a program that makes it easy for coaches and parents to teach kids leadership qualities and skills by providing FREE leadership lessons for kids 5 to 12 years old. The lessons are provided in simple script format and designed to be used at each practice. Each lesson takes less than five minutes and teaches a simple leadership concept along with a fun game, race or story. The lessons are engaging, enlightening and memorable. Some of the lesson topics are:

  • Putting others first in not the same as putting “you” second
  • What is a “Leader”?
  • Listening is the starting point of leadership

It is important to know that APIVEO is not a watered down “ooey-gooey” self-esteem program for children. The program embraces and leverages the competitive nature of sports to teach kids how to become great leaders. APIVEO players play to win but live to serve. It teaches that life is not a competition; life is about adding value to those around you.
